From Worn Laminate to Marble-Look: A Yacht Galley Refit in Miami Marina

When a yacht owner at a Miami Marina reached out about their galley countertop, the problem was familiar: a dated cream laminate surface, worn from years of use, that no longer matched the rest of the interior. A full stone replacement would have meant demolition, a marine fabricator, and weeks of downtime — not realistic for a boat that needed to be back on the water.

The Challenge

Yacht interiors are unforgiving spaces to renovate. Every surface is curved, custom-fit, and built around fixed appliances — there's no standard countertop template to work from. The galley in this case wrapped around a cooktop, a sink, and a bank of refrigeration drawers, with compound curves at every corner.

DI-NOC architectural film gave us a way to deliver a convincing stone finish without touching the underlying structure of the boat. The film is cut and hand-fitted directly over the existing countertop, following every curve and cutout precisely — including the cooktop surround and the sink basin.

The Result

The finished galley now reads as a grey marble countertop, seamlessly wrapped around the stainless refrigeration drawers and cherry wood cabinetry. The full installation was completed in days, with the yacht never leaving the marina.
